Urgent Crown Replacement For Maria
What is a Dental Crown?
A dental crown is an artificial replacement tooth which has a similar colour to your natural teeth. They are available in a range of materials which includes gold, ceramic and the traditional porcelain fused to metal crown.
The main advantage of a dental crown is that they hide the signs of a damaged or decayed tooth as well as maintaining the tooth’s current function. Crowns last for many years and are very strong and resilient.
At Dentistry On The Square we offer a range of dental crowns to suit your needs.
Our CEREC Technology has transformed the way we do crowns. The CEREC machine allows us to create a crown for you in a very short period of time, meaning that for most people we can actually fit your new crown during your lunch break!
“Jamie Explains How We Can Offer Same Day Service”
So for those of you who don’t know, Cerec means that you can come to Dentistry On The Square and if you need a crown or a veneer, most cases we can have it made on the same day for you, perhaps even within an hour in certain cases.
If you have a broken tooth or you have a veneer that’s failed and it’s an emergency, front tooth perhaps, we can get that fixed with our technicians downstairs in probably an hour.
For complex cases, in your smile, maybe in the afternoon. So you can come in in the morning, have your veneers or crowns fitted that same day.
How do we do this? With the Cerec machine it’s all done on the computer; we have a 3d scanner and take a photo of your teeth creating digital impressions so no need for traditional impressions at Dentistry On The Square.
From those models the computer designs your new crown to fit around your existing teeth, so one of the benefits of Cerec is perfect fit. Perfect fit means your crown or veneer will last longer. It also means it will feel more comfortable because the computer has designed that restoration around your own teeth so it’s bespoke to you, it’s not a technician guessing how your teeth come together, the computer has done it all for you.
The other thing is, quite often you only need one injection so everything at Dentistry On The Square is pain free.
We can repair your tooth and have that veneer or crown fitted before the numbness wears off so that’s got to be a great thing.
Porcelain fused to metal crowns (or PFM crowns) is a procedure whereby a metal alloy is attached to your tooth. Porcelain is then fused to the metal to create a very strong and long lasting crown.
Because porcelain is used to create the outer part of the crown, the appearance is natural and the colour is very similar to that of your existing teeth.
These crowns are strong enough to withstand heavy biting force, and at the same time can have an excellent cosmetic appearance.
